Weekend Report 12th-13th September

Both our teams Saturday were defeated in friendly action but with both sides playing teams a division higher than them a lot of positivities could be taken from both games.

The firsts travelled to Nettleham and batting first made 152, largely due to a very well put together 88not out by Mathew Teal in the middle order with Ollie Ounsley also contributing with 24. Unfortunately for the firsts the bowling wasn’t up to scratch this week and and Nettleham knocked the score off in the 29th over only losing 3 wickets, Skipper liam picking up a wicket in a tidy 8 over spell.

The seconds came narrowly close to beating Nettleham seconds after bowling them out for 142. Paul Bradley and Jon Wroot both picking up 3 wickets each before the game went down to the last over with the priorymen needing 9 to win. Unfortunately they couldn’t get the winning runs and fell 5 short in the end.

The third 11 finished their reduced season with a convinving win over Sheffield University Staff on Sunday. Batting first the University got to 165 in their 40 overs with Dave Hadley top scoring with a 50, captain Billy picking up 3 wickets in his 6 overs. In reply Outcasts raced to the total in just 26 overs with Billy picking up his maiden 50 for the club and young keeper batsman Jacob Dunstan picking up his highest senior score with 38.

That finishes our 40 over season for another year and a massive thanks has to go to everyone that has got cricket on at the ground. There was a point in June we thought the season was done but to get some 25 games of 40 over cicket in has to be a minor miracle.

The club finishes its season on saturday with a double header of T20s against Broughton. Broughton have been a massive help through the season organising a number of friendlies against us and Saturday will be a celebration of the effort both clubs.
